"6 figures", April 2018

The theme of an installation is inspired from the struggle and confusion of people in Fukushima, where had a huge impact from Touhoku Earthquake and Tsunami in 2011.  However, I wanted to push the theme further in a positive way. this work also presented how strong one human being could be in his/her life and how we can have a possibility of freedom, if we take action. As for the process, I made a wool fleece roving and sheer nylon fabric into one sheet by using a hand-felting technique.  After I made six panels, I hand-dyed them.   When I projected images on these six panels, an audience could see multiple images from one projection.  This installation did not have enough space for the projection, and the audience could not find the connection between the textile and the projection. Therefore I displayed them differently with more space.  I decided to mix digital animation with hand drawing images for the projection.
